DURHAM MAYOR

The 3rd Annual BLK BIZ SUMMIT is honored to announce the attendance of Mayor Leonardo Williams. Mayor Williams, a former teacher, school administrator, and small business owner, will join us on August 2, 2024, at the Chesterfield Building in Durham, NC, for this pivotal event aimed at empowering Black entrepreneurs.

 

Mayor Leonardo (Leo) Williams was elected to the Durham City Council in December 2021 and was sworn in as mayor in December 2023. A proud graduate of North Carolina Central University, he holds a bachelor’s degree in music education and a master’s degree in educational leadership.

 

While serving on the City Council, Mayor Williams has applied his extensive experience and passion for education, entrepreneurship, and social justice to foster a united, safe, and prosperous Durham community.

 

“We are excited to welcome Mayor Williams to the BLK BIZ SUMMIT,” said Chisa Pennix-Brown, Chief Curator of Give it to the People. “His dedication to education, entrepreneurship, and community development perfectly aligns with our mission.
